GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

High School Choice Period

is Monday, February 11 – Friday, February 22.
This period is to apply to a high school different than your assigned residential high school. Please NOTE that if you are accepted to another (non-magnet) high school, a bus is not provided.
Applications will be available online Monday, February 11th. This process is first come, first served. Forms should be completed, notarized, and mailed to Central Office.

Our 8th grade guidance counselor, Mrs. Katie Smith will be visiting 8th grade classes in the first two weeks of February to discuss the high school registration process.

Don’t forget to check high school websites for upcoming rising 9th grade and open house events.

TJMS Food Pantry

Many of you have heard that we have a Food Pantry Available to our families in need. Understanding that the government shut down has effected many people locally, we wanted to make everyone aware that we will have the food pantry open on the 2nd & 4th Saturday every month, from 9-11. Please contact Michaleh Snider (mcsnider@wsfcs.k12.nc.us), Mike McDowell (mmcdowell@ wsfcs.k12.nc.us), or Daniel Bryant (dpbryant@ wsfcs.k12.nc.us) if you need more information.

Give A Kid A Coat Campaign

Jefferson Middle School will kick off the Give A Kid A Coat Campaign next week.  The coat drive ends on February 9th.

Students, parents, and staff are requested to check their closet for coats they’ve out grown or no longer wear, and donate gently used coats to help children in need stay warm this winter.
Baby coats are also needed.

The Salvation Army will pick up the coats and Cleaner World cleans the coats.
The Salvation Army distributes the coats to people in our community.

The homeroom that donates the most coats will receive a dessert party.

Fuel Up to Play 60 Update:
For the next two weeks the Fuel Up to Play 60 club is participating in a two-part event!

Part 1 is a Souper Bowl of Giving food drive! We are asking for families to send in non-perishable items for our Food Pantry! The Fuel Up to Play 60 club will plan a grade level incentive for whichever team brings in the most food.

Part 2 is a Highlighting Physical Activity google slides. We have a national campaign doing called “How do you fuel?”   All you have to do us upload pictures of your family being active or eating healthy and put TJMS - Winston Salem, NC on the slide. Our hope is to get it played DURING the super bowl!!

Please contact Mrs. Snider with any questions!
